How to boost?

Postby txkiter » Tue Dec 15, 2009 3:48 pm

Howdy:

When should i sheet in or out when jumping?

I am jumping pretty good lately, but, I have no clue what I am actually doing with the sheeting of the kite during the jump.

What SHOULD I be doing?

Thanks

Hi there, I haven't got any ideas, but I was wondering if you ever got a solution
as I would like to do the same thing. Cheers!

Hey! I'm most likely not the best jumper out there but I usually send the kite and sheet in when it's around the 12 o'clock position. During the jump I keep it sheeted in. With the S2 19 that gives the jump a super floaty feel. I then sheet out as soon as I hit the water. That makes this big baby steer a little faster. Cheers!

For max height on big-air hooked in jumps you want the kite tuned so there is just a touch of backstall with the bar all the way in. So for example if you tune the bar so you can unhook and fly the kite static on land you will need to lengthen the center-lines (depower strap) just a little more. Basically the kite should fly for about 5-10 seconds when you unhook before starting to backstall.

When you send the kite, sheet out a little to get kite speed but not so much to depower. Turn it fast to send it deep into the window. And at about 12 sheet in as you edge and pop the board. I usually keep the bar in during the whole jump but if I get scared I will sheet out a little to not go up so high or come down sooner. Don't over do it because the kite will fly behind you. Redirect hard in preparation for landing.
