Well I managed to get out yesterday after work for 40minutes for a cheeky land session,
I was flying in a large school ground (they are all on holidays) so wind was coming over buildings/fences/trees, it was extremely gusty with some areas of the field in a complete wind shadow and the rest 10-25mph completely inconstant,
Set up...
-Role out the kite, stand on on tip whilst holding the other to get a bit of air in the kite, I only did this for about 30 seconds...
- Place my landboard on one tip and undo the bar sideone into the wind, because of the angle the kite is always getting more air inside as you prepare
- Bar and lines take me around 40 seconds to undo and make sure nothing is twisted etc. gentle pull on the centre lines and the kite goes straight up
- This is the best flysurfer I have owned for initial launch, it was fully inflated yet it wasnt punchy whilst it continued to reach the zenith.
- Literally a couple of minutes to get into the air, with no need for a ground stake or any other fixed objects...
FLYING
The facts :
This is ridiculously fast (10m - fastest foil I have ever flown, and not only for its size, equally if not faster than some smaller kites)
Untwisting the lines by powering the kite up works superbly
I will need abit of time adjusting to the pop of this kite and flying style compared to my speed2 12, (this is not a bad thing)
For some big air and hangtime
Travelling across the wind with the bar around halfway in...
Then shooti the kite back across the zenith past 12 O'clock
Let the bar out to speed the kite up
Pop and pull in the bar at the same time
Once air born I found I would let the bar out a couple of inches to gain more float
Kite kite has plenty of hangtime above your head at around 12
Redirect (but not too hard) for a powered landing
( I could board off with this technique - old school is harder than the speed due to turning speed, but is possible with time on the kite)
At the end of the session I thought I would give the 5th line a try, To be completely honest I thought... Im going to have a knot to undo in a moment, but I need to try it incase I need it on the water one day or even inland,
I am mighty impressed, considering how dirty the wind was the kite collapsed in the middle and came straight down through the powerzone with absolutley no pull, no spinning, no funny business,
To relaunch I just walked towards the bar, picked it up and walked backwards again, the kite then unfolded and shot back up through the window
THIS KITE PROMISES GREAT THINGS! - hopefully its video weather this weekend!
