Wish list for Infinity 2.0

Postby gridlok » Sun Feb 13, 2011 8:49 pm

I've thought a lot about the infinity setup and there is several things I'd like to see on the new bar setup. Please add additional requests to this thread if there is something you'd like Armin to add or change.

1) The Depowerloopline need to last more than 8-10 sessions before being replaced. Thicker line, better swivel, paraloc line, larger hole in the bar. The main thing that has kept me from using this bar is the thought of swapping chickenlooplines all the time.

2) If it continues to use the double depowerloop line then it should be 100% redundant meaning if EITHER depowerloop line breaks the kite should heep flying. This is an easy change to existing infinity bar (knot the depowerloopline at the chickenloop and tie 2 seperate bowlines at the end with the depower strap

3) I would very much like to have a seperate suicide leash system that ran from the chickenloop to ABOVE the depowerloop line that would activate in the event of a failure of the chickenloop, depowerloopline, or trim strap. This should be able to be hooked to a seperate suicide leash which can be then hooked to a climbing harness worn over the normal kiting harness for gliders and people jumping over 30' in the air on land or water. That would help prefent injury if the spreaderbar or harness failed. I posted a mod for the old bar setup for a 3rd release system here viewtopic.php?f=39&t=14030

4) A swivel that actually swivels without jamming the bar down against the chickenloop.

Other ideas?

the current bar is absolute pants..... shit in other words...

it is a shame as it is the only thing that would really stop me buying a new FS kite...

my bar has locked up a few times now causing me to have near catastrophic crashes..... the new bar NEEDS to be sent to ALL customers who bought the original S3.

- when unhooking, the (hopefully then actually working!) swivel should be locked. many bars show how it is done. rehooking into the chickenloop is not easy when it is turning.

Is anyone waxing their line and/or fitting a thrust bearing?

Are Core flyers just as unhappy?

Great ideas guys, keep them coming. I agree that the aluninum block should be replaced with something else like rings. Swivel above the bar, another great idea.

I agree with Tone that the new bar is the only thing that discourages me from buying new kites. That and knowing I will have to replace the sparepartlines with vectran.

It works great Peter32. Even better with stainless rope and sockets but I don't know with the double rope of the infinity bar. For that I guess it would have to be stainless rope with a swivel and it might have some limitations. For a single line it cant be beat except on price The swageless sockets cost a small fortune and most are a bit too long. Splicing wire, I have seen it done really well but I can't do it to the standard I have seen. A swager would be best if you have access to one or a cast socket but I have never seen a cast socket in stainless small enough.

"Chinese stainless" lol magic stuff with the same properties as cast iron...how do they do it?

Its good at keeping sand off the rope and it moves smoother, but the problem is that you can't see the condition of the depowerloop line. My buddy had a cabrina with one and it ended up failing and he nad no idea that the line needed to be replaced. Depowerloop failure on foils is bad news.

Maybe use clear plastic tubing so you can see if the depowerloop line is unraveling?

Would like to see the configuration thru the bar on a vertical axis (perpandicular to the bar) not a horizontal axis. Too much spread on the lines for comfortable one hand use with lines between the fingers. Single line with PU cover is better if the double lines are not independent of each other, as suggested. Perhaps a single PU covered main line with the safety running inside of it to a swivel that works.

- please use a high quality snap hook or snap shackle instead of this! it's the safety leash! we do not want our 2000 euro babys to fly away and hurt somone, do we?

by the way, i noticed that this one is broken when i tried to attach it to the safety ring.
