It's that 20 mg Valium equivalant

Postby Cahliss » Wed Feb 03, 2010 1:34 pm

Stressed out, bad day, or just up to the eyeballs with the missus..!

16:00 hrs Short trek to the beach, gentle breeze around 6 to 9 knts. Unpack the SA2 19m, dump your XL flydoor on the sand and slowly get kitted up. No hurry as there will be no more wind than what is wafting your face.

Untangle all the bridles with loads of patience as the older the kite gets the more the lines want to be a birds nest. Stroll back to the bar, hook in and tease the kite into the air without any hot launch or tip tucking. looks nice, maybe occasional backstall as the wind dips below 5 knts, but only for a second. Grab the board and wade into the sea, hmmm! not too much current. Feet in and...... Oh yes this is just what the doctor ordered, cruisin' time.

Two hours later, legs still in one piece, kite hasn't even been near the water so dry as a bone, kept the same beach position which feels so nice as the wind was up and down and current little bit more than anticipated. Pack up a nice dry kite on the grass (power paragliders launch zone) and home to a glass of red to top off my 'Valium' evening.... stress! what stress buggered off ages ago.

Loverly evening kiting

Wow, really miss the sand and water after reading that, have plenty of snow above treeline with 20knts gusting snow storms and the 12m sp3 that's performing and really lives up to all the hype. Thanks Armin,Cheers.

I love those sessions when I show up at the beach and even after 2.5 years of flying the SA2-19 I still don't know if there is enough wind...but throw it up in the sky and get that surprising 1-3 hour session that just isn't supposed to be possible. What a bonus. These aren't the adrenaline-packed sessions, but great times to enjoy distance cruising, carving, small jumps, the scenery, the breeze, the water and the solitude of riding like it was ten years ago. If I were to forget that life is good (which I haven't done yet), sessions like this would sure remind me. I

FWIW 20 mg of Valium will make me sleep for a week or more. For the uninitiated, 5 or 2.5 mg is a good start.

Valium is like death. Don't do you or anybody else any good. Shuts down the brain. Big time. Ambien, same deal. Death sleep. What killed Heath Ledger. Xanax, etc. Opposite of why you kitesurf. Get it?

Check that out, someone struck a chord with Mr Chemosavi. Yeah, I thought he never gave em a straight answer, but in this case you really better listen up. Sure as shit, any sort of drugs will kill you or at least reduce your life force to nothing whatesover. I dont care if its TRENDY ENERGY DRINK, Exctacy or Heroin, or anything in between. All you kiters so stoked on life, and wind, surf, gravity, or the lust for just the wind in your face. I am sure you all were just kidding about this valium shit. Any sort of drug use just distorts or removes your ability to get the most happiness out of life. ITS A SHITHOLE YOU DONT EVER WANT TO GO DOWN. Keep charging with the wind at your back, I wish I could tell you how lucky you are if you don't know what I am talking about.....all you kiters on this forum are sincere people that life life to it's fullest when you are riding the wind. Don't ever give that away for a second.

I don't know about you guys - but often a good session creates the same sensations in me as smoking a big fat one - I end up sounding like one of those laid back surfer dudes - my missus can instantly tell when I've been kiting - completely spaced out - don't you just love endorphins!!!

Got to back-up a bit on the previous statement about certain "mind states". We're most definitely in the dark ages of the brain and how they are affected by "drugs", to be taken in a broad sense, if you will, jess so your parental controls don't go berserk. As we all know too well, everybody's different, and what works for one kills another. Likewise, without the use thereof (drugs, that is) some would be dead or find life not worth living. Having pursued extreme sports for thirty+ years, hangliding, surfing, rock climbing, etc., it starts to occur to you that perhaps these pursuits might be a tad drug related in that they stimulate certain chemicals into the brain not dis-similar to those sold at your local pharmacy (or drug dealer). I have acquaintances who've lived a similar lifestyle (more pure than mine fer shere) and when unable to produce the highs they became accustomed to by these types of pursuits, due to old age or whatever, have blown their brains out with a shotgun. Some people cannot kitesurf, or jump off cliffs in oversize raincoats so they are left to more remedial choices. And jumping off a cliff in a raincoat with a wife and a kid back in the crib ain't so different in my book than plunging a skinny needle into a fat vein. Valium turns me into a zombie but performs miracles for a whacked out, overstressed housewife with five kids and a husband who's never home.

Seems that just being in the vicinity of another communicable human being and sharing the shit is the best form of therapy available, kitesurfing notwithstanding.

EACH TO HIS OWN, as long as they're not harming another, is perdy much how I see it and sorry to be so pedantic in the earlier post.
